Chorefto is a seaside village of Eastern Pelion. It belongs to the municipality of Zagora and is located 52 km from Volos and 9 km from Zagora. This area serves as the port of Zagora. The lush vegetation of Pelion embraces the sandy beaches of Chorefto.
It is worth noting that Chorefto was the famous port from which the “Zagorian ships” set sail for the major markets of Europe and the East.
The small green village stretches to an amazing beach of approximately three kilometers, with crystal-clear waters and a beautiful sandy shore.
Thanks to its excellent tourist infrastructure, it is ideal for holidays, attracting both young people and families. You can find accommodations with all amenities, taverns serving traditional recipes and fresh fish, and for your nightlife, bars with Greek or international music.
During your stay in Chorefto, it is worth visiting the old chapel of Agios Nikolaos with its remarkable frescoes, which is built on the ruins of an ancient temple.
Also, visit by boat or rented caique the area of Old Mitzela with its sea caves. It is said that Xerxes¢ fleet was destroyed there in 480 B.C. The now uninhabited Old Mitzela was known in antiquity as Ipnoi - Fournos, and according to mythology, it is where the Nereid Thetis fell in love with Peleus.
