 |
Alli Meria is a traditional village built along the banks of the Anavros stream, surrounded by lush greenery and offering panoramic views of Volos and the Pagasetic Gulf.
Highlights during your visit include the Church of Saint Athanasios, dating back to the 18th century, and the old Velentza Fortress, located in the village square, whose interior is adorned with frescoes by the famous painter Theofilos.
Particularly striking is the neoclassical mansion of Ioannis Chatziargyris, notable for its tall stone wall. This mansion was later purchased by the Zagorian journalist Kostas Stournas and in the 1960s donated to the Metsovio Polytechnic University, though it remains unused today.
The village attracts visitors with its charming taverns and grills, as well as the cool shade of the magnificent plane tree forest during the summer months.
It is also worth attending the annual Flower Festival – “Anthesteria” held every May, where local flower producers showcase a wide variety of blooms, drawing numerous visitors to the village.
