About Macedonia
Macedonia is a geographical and historical region of Greece with a very rich history that is lost in the depths of centuries. It has to show unique natural beauties and important archaeological sites and historical monuments that testify to the great civilization that flourished in the land of the Macedonians during ancient times, but also to their valuable contribution to the events of the history of Greece in all periods.
Macedonia is one of the geographical regions of mainland Greece. It is the southern and largest part of the wider geographical and historical region of Macedonia. It is located between the Pindos mountain range and the Nestos River and is the northern geographical and historical region, the second largest in population and the largest in area of the Greek territory. It borders Skopje (FYROM) and Bulgaria to the north, Thessaly and the Aegean Sea to the south, Western Thrace to the east and Epirus and Albania to the west.
More specifically, Macedonia is divided into the region of Central Macedonia, which consists of the prefectures of Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Pella, Imathia, Pieria, Serres and Kilkis. Getting to know the countless beauties of Central Macedonia is an experience of a lifetime. Thessaloniki, the charming co-capital, enchants every visitor, Halkidiki with its dreamy beaches, Edessa with its waterfalls, Imathia with its ski resort, Pieria with its mountainous landscapes and magnificent beaches, every prefecture, city and village of Central Macedonia attracts the interest of travelers for a thousand different reasons.
Here, the self-governing, monastic community of Mount Athos is also located. Specifically, it spreads on the Athos peninsula of Halkidiki. It consists of 20 monasteries, the most important centers of Orthodoxy worldwide.
The region of Western Macedonia is located in the northwestern part of Greece and borders Albania and FYROM. It consists of the Prefectures of Kozani, Grevena, Kastoria and Florina.
Western Macedonia is a predominantly mountainous region with 82% of its territory covered by mountainous and semi-mountainous areas. It is ideal for touring as it has unparalleled natural beauty, remarkable cities, picturesque villages and many entertainment and activity options.
The prefectures of Drama, Kavala and Thassos administratively belong to the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Here too you will encounter breathtaking landscapes, both mountainous and sea, and you will get to know the beauties of northern Greece.

Dragon’s Cave (Spileo Drakou)
5.0In one day, we will be able to experience a piece of the culture and natural beauty of both Albania and Greece. We will explore Korca in Albania and Kastoria in Greece, two beautiful and very different towns. Our first stop for the day will be the town of Korca, a small town, that is turning out to be one modern town in Albania, while the traces of communist isolation are still visible. We will be able to visit the Museum of Medival art, with some of the most beautiful preserved Medival objects from the surrounding. After the Korca sightseeing, we will continue our way to Greece in the town of Kastoria. Kastoria lies on the shores of the Orestiada lake, where you can see the most beautiful scenes of pelicans and cormorants swimming around. You can have lunch or a coffee break in some of the restaurants and cafes on the lake shores. We have a chance to visit the Cave of the Dragon on a guided tour. If the weather allows it, we can make the return trip through Galichica National Park.

Departing from either Vourvourou (Ekies Resort) or Ouranoupoli (Eagles Resort), the route covers Halkidiki's most beautiful and least crowded coves: Hawaii Beach (Myrsini), the Blue Lagoon, Karydi Beach, and the pristine double-sided beaches of Ampelitsi and Peristeri Island. From Ouranoupoli, an optional lunch stop at Ormos Panagias adds a taste of local seafood to the day. Your skipper adapts the pace and stops to suit your group. The cruise operates aboard our Axopar 28 T-Top — a premium 28ft vessel with a 300HP Mercury engine, built for open water and comfortable for up to 7 guests.
