The town of Agria is the closest holiday resort of Pelion to Volos, as it is only 7 km from the city.
Agria attracts the interest of visitors from Volos and the wider region due to its beautiful beaches and the excellent tourist infrastructure it offers.
In the area, there are many taverns where you can enjoy exquisite recipes of Pelion cuisine, as well as numerous nightlife venues promising unforgettable evenings.
Among the local attractions are the church of Saint George and the Porphyrogenitus Foundation, as well as the building of the Railway Station for the traditional Pelion train. This was also the first station of the “Iasonas” train on the route to Milies.
It is also worth visiting the chapel of Panagia Trípia, which is built into a rock next to the sea, as well as the chapel of the Holy Cross on Anemoutsa Hill, with its carved wooden iconostasis and the stunning view over the Pagasitic Gulf and the village of Agria.
Almost connected to Agria is the seaside area of Soutrali, which in recent years has experienced significant tourist development. Its main feature is the beautiful sandy beach stretching for several kilometers.
Every summer, in mid-July, Agria hosts the “Fishermen¢s Night,” where traditional fish soup is served and fishermen¢s customs are revived.
