Keramidi is located in northern Pelion, perched at an altitude of 330 meters. It is a small, picturesque village nestled within lush greenery.
The village was founded approximately three centuries ago by residents fleeing oppression under Ottoman rule from neighboring villages. They sought refuge in this densely forested area, which offered a safe haven. Today, Keramidi forms a community together with the nearby settlement of Veneto.
The village offers breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea, giving it the appearance of a small paradise and a safe harbor. Its two beautiful beaches, Kamari and Agios Ioannis, are perfect for moments of peace and relaxation.
Not far from the village, archaeological findings have been uncovered, including the ruins of a fortress or castle located at Agios Ioannis, believed to date back to the Macedonian or Hellenistic periods. It is thought to have been the site of the ancient town of Kasthanaia, mentioned by Herodotus as the place where Xerxes¢ fleet was destroyed.
