Stagiates
 |
The village of Stagiates is built on a steep hillside, hidden within dense vegetation, northwest of Portaria. It is renowned for its rich natural environment and the breathtaking views over Volos, which captivate every visitor. Strolling through the village¢s narrow cobblestone streets, you will admire the old mansions and traditional houses, which are representative examples of Pelion architecture.
In the village square, you can enjoy a coffee under the shade of the plane trees while taking in the stunning views of Volos and Makrinitsa. Here, you will also find the Church of Saint Athanasios and a traditional fountain, which, according to local legend, once healed a sick woman with its water. Stagiates is also famous for its digestive water and its delicious local sausages. Every July, the village hosts the Sausage Festival in the central square, celebrating this beloved culinary tradition.
