Porto Heli is one of the most cosmopolitan seaside resorts in the Argolis region and among the most popular destinations in the Peloponnese. It is located 84 km southeast of Nafplio and approximately 175 km from Athens.
The settlement is built around a sheltered natural harbor, giving it the appearance of an island. Fishing boats anchored around the calm marina, lush greenery, and the charming village combine to create the area¢s grandeur.
Porto Heli has gained worldwide fame due to the pine-covered landscapes surrounding it and its pristine beaches, which create an exotic atmosphere.
The area is steeped in history. Here, you can see the ruins of Alies, an ancient city that served as a suburb of Ermioni. The ancient inhabitants, known as Alies, were named for their primary activity: they were purple-dye fishermen and skilled artisans in its production. Over time, the area¢s name evolved from Alies to Chalieis, Heli, and finally Porto Heli.
During your visit, you will also see the ruins of the Acropolis of Alies, while underwater lie parts of the walls of the ancient harbor and the Temple of Apollo.
For swimming enthusiasts, Porto Heli offers many delights. In addition to the main village beach, you can enjoy Limanakia, Kosta, Chinitsa, Korakia beaches, and the Ververonta lagoon. There are organized beaches providing all amenities and options for water sports, as well as secluded coves for those seeking quieter spots.
Porto Heli stands out for its excellent tourist infrastructure. It caters to high-end tourism, offering visitors everything they need: luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, charming tavernas, unique mezedopoleia, cozy cafés, bars, and nightclubs.
