Nea Kios is a beautiful coastal town located northwest of Nafplio, just 6 km away.
It represents the historical continuation of Kios, a city in Asia Minor built at the head of the Gulf of Propontis and considered the port of Bursa. After the Asia Minor Catastrophe, most of the Greek population of Kios settled in this area, naming it Nea Kios in memory of their lost homeland.
The town is naturally gifted, boasting countless beauties. Its excellent urban planning features wide, spacious streets, while lush parks and the stunning beaches of Nea Kios attract numerous visitors every summer.
Nea Kios has something for everyone and offers a wide range of options for its visitors. At the seaside taverns, as well as those around the town square, you can taste exquisite traditional meze, fresh fish, and local meats. Cafés and bars provide the perfect setting to relax and enjoy time with friends while admiring views of the sea or the charming traditional town.
The town is also home to a variety of shops, where you can shop for gifts and souvenirs.
A visit to the Laskarideio Folklore Museum is highly recommended. Housed in a modern building, the museum is well-organized and displays relics and everyday objects from the lives of Asia Minor refugees, along with rare historical documents. Of particular interest is the collection of traditional clothing, including both festive and everyday garments of the Asia Minor Greeks.
