Vessa
 |
Vessa is a small semi-mountainous village in southern Chios, impressive for its medieval architecture. It is located 19 km from the town of Chios and spreads across a valley, from which the village likely derived its name (from the Homeric vessa = valley).
This picturesque village is worth visiting, as it is a characteristic example of a “village-castle.” The well-preserved medieval settlement, with its narrow streets, impresses visitors and transports them to another era. During your visit, it is also worth exploring the Church of Saint Demetrios and admiring up close its unique wood-carved icon.
