Neo faliro

The area of Neo Faliro is located at a key point between Piraeus, Athens, and the coastal zone. It is just 10 km from the center of Athens.
During the interwar period, it was a cosmopolitan seaside resort. The modern settlement today bears no resemblance to that era. Neo Faliro is known for its excellent sports facilities, which served as Olympic venues during the 2004 Olympic Games.
The historic Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium is also located in the area. It was completely renovated and hosted football matches during the Olympics. It is the second-largest stadium in Athens and originally served as the velodrome during the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. It is also the historic home of Olympiacos FC.
Opposite the Faliro electric railway station – a key transport hub with connections to Tram Line 2 (Faliro – Glyfada) – is the Peace and Friendship Stadium, which hosted volleyball events during the Olympic Games.
Along the coastal area of the Faliro Bay, a vast recreational park has been developed, where visitors can enjoy walks, have a meal or drink, and explore the Olympic facilities up close.
It is also worth visiting the Flisvos Marina, known as “Trocadero.” Among other attractions, you will find the battleship Averof, an exciting floating museum today. The Averof took part in the naval battles of the Balkan Wars of 1912–1913.
