 Kissamos

In the northwestern part of the Chania region, about 40 km from the city, lies the Kissamos area. The region is characterized by its lush green mountains and the picturesque villages built within this beautiful landscape.
The capital of Kissamos is Kastelli. According to historical sources, Kastelli is built on the ruins of the ancient city of Kissamos, which is why the area is sometimes referred to by both names.
In recent years, it has developed into a modern tourist resort, ideal for those seeking tranquility. It is particularly known for its beach with a beautiful sandy shore and crystal-clear waters. The coastlines of Kastelli, Viggilia, Falassarna, Drapania, and Neapigeia are perfect spots to enjoy the sea and the sun.
The wider area is also home to many notable archaeological sites, with the ancient city of Falassarna being the most significant.
