Nestled in the lush valley of the Keritis River, 12 km from Chania, lies the village of Alikianos, which also serves as the seat of the Mousouroi municipality.
A notable feature is that to reach the village, visitors cross the large stone bridge over the Keritis River, built in 1908.
The village of Alikianos is surrounded by orange groves. In fact, according to the locals, it produces the tastiest oranges in all of Greece.
A landmark of the village is the Tower of Da Molin, belonging to the Venetian lord who governed the village during the Venetian rule. The ruins of the tower, considered haunted, have survived to this day. Legend tells of a brutal crime that took place during the wedding of Da Molin¢s daughter to the son of the rebel Georgios Kantaliontas. The Venetian lord opposed the marriage, and after spiking the wine with a sedative, he hanged all the members of the Kantaliontas family.
