Kontias

Kontias is one of the largest villages on the island. It is located on the eastern side of Lemnos, 11 km from the capital. The village is built in a dreamlike setting among three pine-covered hills. Particularly impressive are its old mansions, while some medieval buildings have also been preserved. The cobbled streets and old neighborhoods with well-maintained houses create images of a bygone era.
It is worth visiting the Church of Saint Demetrios, the oldest in the village, and the Church of Saint John, with its remarkable Byzantine icons.
At the southern entrance of the village, you will see the impressive stone windmills.
You can swim at Evgati Beach, just one kilometer from the village. There are also opportunities for water sports.
At the taverns in Kontias, don¢t forget to try the local ouzo.
