A beautiful traditional village located west of Heraklion, 30 km from the city center. It is built in a fertile area and is renowned for its citrus production.
Fodele is the birthplace of Domenikos Theotokopoulos, the famous El Greco. His family home still stands in the village and serves as a key attraction.
The village also features many small Byzantine chapels. Fodele Beach will captivate you: on one side, lush greenery, and on the other, the endless blue of the Cretan Sea, creating a dreamlike setting.
