Lechaio is a beautiful seaside village located 8 km west of Corinth. Administratively, it belongs to the Municipality of Assos-Lechaio.
In the past, it was known as Kolombotsi. Its current name comes from the ancient port of Corinth. According to mythology, Leches, after whom the area is named, was the son of the god Poseidon and the spring Peirene, daughter of the river god Achelous.
In ancient times, Lechaio was the most important port of the region due to its proximity to the city and Corinth¢s commercial orientation. Its construction was a technological marvel of the time, later imitated by the Romans and applied to many other ports.
Today, Lechaio has evolved into a popular coastal resort, attracting numerous visitors thanks to its long sandy beach with crystal-clear waters and the hotels in the area, making it an ideal destination for seaside holidays.
