Naxos is the most fertile of Cyclades islands. Its products, famous all over Greece for their exceptional quality, prove that the island is-as locals name it- a blessed place.
East Naxos, Livadi, with the fertile valleys of the inner country and villages around it, produce great amounts of potatoes, the famous product of Naxos, fruits and vegetables.
The green valley of Egares gives the annual harvest big amounts of garden products from its gardens. Smiridochoria of hilly Naxos full of vineyards is famous for its pure oil. There are over 400.000 oil trees in the island, and 200.000 of them are in Tragea.
Agricultural products are not the only that make Naxos famous to those wanting to eat good, but also its animal husbandry products of excellent quality. In its mountains goats are raised, lamps, and cows. From those animals' milk are produced the famous cheeses of Naxos: kefalotiri, xinotiro and xinomizithra.
Naxos' residents are famous for their feasts and have a tradition in music, so they couldn't but to accompany their feasts with the local wine or liquer. The famous liquer Kitro, produced by the distillation of Kitria leaves, is only cultivated in the fertile ground of Naxos.

You can buy Naxo's traditional products from shops in Chora (town) and from other villages. But before buying them you can taste them in the taverns all over the island.
