This tour explores the highlights of the Peloponnese, from ancient wonders to modern marvels. We'll visit Mycenae, one of Greece’s first great kingdoms, dating back to the second millennium BC. According to Homer, it was home to Agamemnon, leader of the Greeks in the Trojan War. You’ll see the iconic Lion Gate, the entrance to the royal palace. Next, we head to Epidaurus to admire its 4th-century BC theatre, renowned for its incredible acoustics, where even a whisper on stage can be heard perfectly throughout the audience. In Nafplio, we explore Palamidi Castle, a Venetian fortress famous for its 999 steps. Our journey continues to Nemea, an ancient wine region. Here, we learn about Agiorgitiko, a 3,000-year-old grape variety, and taste wines ranging from light and fruity to bold and mature. Finally, we’ll visit the Corinth Canal, a modern engineering feat connecting the Aegean and Ionian Seas.

    Corinth Canal

As we cross the Isthmus, we stop to see the great feat of engineering that finally opened the route between the Gulf of Corinth and the Saronic Gulf - the Corinth Canal. It was finished in 1893, even though the idea existed at least as far back as 602 BC!

    The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus

Travel to Epidaurus and see the world-renowned Epidaurus theater. Built in the 4th century BC, it is famous for its acoustics, which are so perfect that words spoken on stage can be heard perfectly wherever you are in the audience.

    Palamidi Castle

Stepping forward in history, we will see the Palamidi Castle in Nafplio, built by the Venetians and famous for supposedly having 999 steps. Archaeological Site Mycenae

The kingdom of Mycenae was one of the first great centers of the Greek culture; settlement on this site dates back to the second millennium BC. According to Homer, Mycenae was the seat of Agamemnon, who led the Greeks against the Trojans to take back Helen, the wife of his brother Menelaus.

    Nemea

We also visit Nemea, an ancient wine-making region of Greece. Nemea is home to a grape variety named "Agiorgitiko" that is at least 3,000 years old. Due to the different microclimates in the region, there are a variety of different wines produced here, from fruity and light to mature and full-bodied.
