  A true time capsule in Drapetsona. This family-run grocery-meze shop is more than a place to eat — it’s a living museum. Passed down from grandfather to father to son, it has kept its charm untouched through the years. The space feels like old Athens, full of warmth, character, and stories. The meze dishes are small, authentic, and absolutely delicious. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves real, soulful Greek tradition.

  A very homey and local hidden gem. It’s a bit out of the way, but this is worth the extra walk! Very friendly staff and great food at prices that are unbelievably low

  Advertised as open but it was closed as we got there. It is outside of the city and traveled quite a lot for it

  A Greek cultural icon. This style of place (both a grocery store and an eating establishment) are fast disappearing. The Special is fourth generation family owned, steeped in character with walls loaded with photographs of famous Greek personalities who have graced this place, politicians, actors, journalists, musicians, anybody who is/was a somebody in Greece wants to say they've been here, and you should too. The food is basic, but made very well and from scratch. The retsina here is also good. If you are lucky and here on a weekend you may also get to enjoy live music. This is not an easy place to get to but if you have the chance to come you must before it is gone. There won't be another one like it ever again.

  Biggest disappointment of my month+ visit to Greece. We were recommended to the place and arrived at 1pm on Friday to an empty restaurant, whereupon it was suggested that we go somewhere else. Eventually we were served some underwhelming meatballs, etc. Off-season attitude? Bad day in the kitchen? No idea, but my suggestion is that you go to a different place.
