Levidi

Levidi is a beautiful, noble mountain town located in the northern part of Arcadia and serves as the seat of the Municipality of Levidi. It lies 25 km from Tripoli and is built at an altitude of 800 meters.
The village spreads across the slopes of Mount Mainalo in a lush, green setting, perched on two or three neighboring hills overlooking the plain of ancient Orchomenos. The charm of Levidi comes from the harmonious blend of its verdant natural surroundings with traditional architecture, creating a unique and striking aesthetic. It is a stately village with stone houses, abundant greenery, and hospitable locals.
The heart of Levidi beats in its village square, which exudes a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of bygone eras. Here, you will find the village church, surrounded by taverns and traditional cafés that attract both locals and travelers alike.
Levidi is the birthplace of the politician Alexandros Papanastasiou. A room in the town hall temporarily houses the Alexandros Papanastasiou Museum, which displays personal items of the politician, including clothing, photographs, documents, and his private correspondence.
At the top of the hill stands the Church of the Holy Archangels, notable for its two clocks—one old and one new. The old clock has its hands frozen at the hour it was destroyed by the Germans during the occupation.
Northeast of Levidi, visitors can see the ruins of ancient Elymia. At the site where the chapel of Panagia now stands, there once was a sanctuary dedicated to Hymnia Artemis.
Traditional guesthouses, charming rooms for rent, and historic mansions await visitors, offering a warm and authentic stay in this picturesque mountain village.
