About Corinthia
The prefecture of Corinth occupies the northeastern part of the Peloponnese. It borders to the south with Argolis, to the west with Achaea and is washed to the northeast by the Corinthian and Saronic Gulfs.
It constitutes the first contact of the visitor with the enchanting peninsula of the Peloponnese, which stands out for its - of all kinds - natural beauty and its significant historical course from ancient times to the present day.
The Corinthia is one of the most important prefectures of our country, due to its strategic geographical position. The famous Isthmus Bridge of Corinth constitutes the umbilical cord that connects the Peloponnese with the rest of the country and at the same time welcomes visitors to this charming place.
The capital of the prefecture is Corinth, a city with a dynamic presence in the events of Greek history from ancient times to the present day, which constitutes a modern urban center. It is an important transportation hub of the Peloponnese and has a very good road network.
The wider area is distinguished by the changes of its landscapes. Impressive mountain landscapes and idyllic coastal images compose the pieces of the excellent puzzle of Corinth, which is completed with the dazzling archaeological monuments and the picturesque villages that smell ... Greece.
The prefecture of Corinth is suitable for summer and winter escapes. It is no coincidence that in the area we find some of the most popular summer resorts of the Peloponnese, such as Loutraki, Xylokastro, Kato, the Baths of Helen, Nemea, Styphnian, Vrachati and of course Corinth, the capital of the prefecture.
Especially noteworthy are the archaeological sites that one encounters during his tour of Corinth, such as ancient Corinth, Nemea, the Isthmus and ancient Sikyon. Each city hides and a history that, as one begins to unfold it, gets tangled in the nets of mythology, weaving the colorful cup of yesterday and today of this wonderful place.
