The impressive monastery with its wild beauty and quirky architecture is built on almost the middle of a huge rock on the northeast side of the Gorge of Arachthon River and is admired to build over vertical rocks. Access is made from a small path, carved into the rock, and continues with a small hanging wooden bridge, leading to the monastery. The wooden bridge is mobile and the monks climbed it with leverage, so that the monastery becomes inaccessible to the bandits, as a 4-metre gap is created on the cliff when it rises.

Anemotrypa Cave
The cave has three levels. The highest and oldest has collapsed in the past and some parts of it are preserved. The middle level is what has been exploited. The third level an underground river, which is seen at the end of the path, just before creating a waterfall 2 meters, 10 meters below the path. The water of the river is reappearing at a fountain located in the ravine, 25 meters below the entrance of the cave.
