    Archaeological Site Mycenae

Mycenae is one of the most significant archaeological sites of ancient Greece, located in the northeastern Peloponnese. Flourishing between 1600 and 1100 BCE, it was a major center of the Mycenaean civilization, which greatly influenced classical Greek culture. According to legend, Mycenae was the kingdom of Agamemnon, leader of the Greeks during the Trojan War. The site is renowned for its impressive architecture, including the massive Cyclopean walls, the famous Lion Gate, and royal tholos tombs such as the Treasury of Atreus. Excavations by Heinrich Schliemann in the 19th century uncovered rich grave goods, offering insight into the wealth and artistry of the Mycenaeans. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mycenae attracts visitors from around the world, offering a powerful connection to Greece’s heroic past and its enduring myths. We will wait for you here for 1 hour and 30 minutes, so you have enough time to visit the archaeological site and the Museum of Mycenae.

    Ancient Nemea

Ancient Nemea is an important archaeological site in the northeastern Peloponnese, Greece. In antiquity, it was known for hosting the Nemean Games, one of the four major Panhellenic festivals, held every two years in honor of Zeus. The centerpiece of the site is the impressive Temple of Zeus, partially restored, dating to the 4th century BCE. Nearby are the remains of ancient baths, an athletic stadium, and a small museum showcasing artifacts from the area. The stadium, with its original vaulted entrance tunnel, still stands and provides insight into ancient athletic life. Excavations have revealed much about the religious and sporting practices of the time. Today, Ancient Nemea offers visitors a unique combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage, reflecting its historical significance in the ancient Greek world. We will wait for you here for 1 hour and 30 minutes, giving you enough time to visit the archaeological site, the museum, and the stadium of Ancient Nemea.
