Every week Art and Walk guides you through a forest path to the Agia Kyriaki church overlooking the Aegean sea. The walk starts in Pigadia at the taxi-station where we take the stairs up to a beautiful viewpoint of Pigadia. Along the way you can spot an ancient temple, see old stavlos (old Greek stables), smell the scent of pine trees and local herbs of Karpathos, have a peek inside the Agia Kyriaki church and enjoy gorgeous views of the nearby villages and the sea.

Menu & tasting

Start your day the Karpathian way: early, fresh, and full of light. Meet your guide at 8:30am at the Alpha Bank (old taxi station) in Pigadia, and step out before the summer heat settles in. Within minutes, the town slips behind you and the path begins to climb—past old stavlos and silvery olive fields, with the Aegean glittering beside you. As you gain height, the view opens wider and wider, revealing Pigadia from above and the southern villages scattered along the coastline like small white brushstrokes. Your destination is the peaceful Agia Kyriaki chapel, usually open for a visit. It’s a perfect spot to pause in the shade, take in the scenery, and enjoy a quiet moment away from the bustle. From here, the walk continues through a pine forest where the air turns cooler and resin-scented. Between the trees, you’ll catch repeated “wow” views of the eastern coast—blue water, rugged hills, and Pigadia unfolding below. By late morning you’ll be back in town at around 11:30am, with salty air in your lungs, photos on your phone, and that satisfying post-walk glow. What to expect: Duration: ~3.5 hours (8:30–11:30) Distance: 7 km Elevation gain: +330 m
