Exploring Mon Repos Museum
On this private tour, you will have the opportunity to admire the gardens, but also the mansion of Mon Repos, which was built by order of the English governor of the island, in order to fulfill the wish of his beloved wife. A mansion that hosted prominent figures of the 19th and 20th centuries, such as Empress Sissi of Austria, German Emperor Wilhelm II, the King of Spain Juan Carlos and his later wife, Princess Sofia of Greece and Denmark. Inextricably connected to the then royal family of Greece, King George I, and also the birthplace of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Mon Repos later became a bone of contention between the Greek state and the royal family for many years. At a distance of only 2.5 km from the historic center of Corfu and at the same time surrounded by a green park, it is a favorite place of the locals and not only. Within approximately 258 acres, the classical era of ancient Greece coexist harmoniously with the romantic era of the 19th century.
