   Acropolis

   The centre of the modern city is dominated from the rocky crag known as the Acropolis. It was Perikles in the fifth century B.C., who coordinated the construction of the site’s most important architectural masterpieces. The Parthenon, the Propylaea, the Erechtheion and the temple of Athena Nike, were erected during this period under the supervision of the greatest architects, sculptors and artists of their time.The Acropolis, also called the “Sacred Rock” of Athens, is the most important site of the city and constitutes one of the most recognizable monuments of the world !!!

   Temple of Olympian Zeus

   Pass by

   The Temple of Olympian Zeus found in the southeast of Athens is also referred to as Olympieion. Its construction lasted several centuries, from 510 BC to 131 AD and it is one of the greatest ancient temples of Zeus as well as one of the most famous marble buildings ever erected in the ancient world. There were originally 104 gigantic Corinthian columns 16 of which remain standing today, with one of them lying on the ground.

   At the main square of Athens is located the Hellenic parliament . There you can see the changing of the guards ceremony.

Day 2

   Meteora

   Located in central Greece near the town of Kalambaka, Meteora, meaning suspended in the air. This geological rock formation took this shape about 60 millions of years ago in the Paleogene period ! A breathtaking landscape of columns of rock accommodate a complex of orthodox monasteries perched on top of the hills, six of which still function today. They were once only accessible using ladders tied together or large nets but nowadays they are accessible by hundreds of staircases and pathways and have many visitors all year round. The place was characterised by UNESCO as a cultural heritage monument of the world !!!

   Lake Plastira

   A man who became prime minister of Greece originated from the area had the idea of making this artificial lake ! Finally it was completed in 1960. The water from this artificial lake transformed to energy from a nearby hydroelectric unit. Apart from this use, nowadays it has become a beautiful tourist attraction ! The place is ideal for outdoor activities !
