It has one of the finest beaches on the island with two kilometres of black sand along with restaurants, bars, snack bars, discos, hotels and souvenir shops located all along the coast.
There are regular connections to the town of Fira and the port (14 km) by bus, as well as to the airport (about 6 km), transfer to and from which is by taxi. Three kilometres away, at an average altitude of 350 metres, one will find Ancient Thera (Mesa Vouno), to the east of the Prophitis Ilias monastery. In the village of Episkopi Gonia (Mesa Gonia), three kilometres from Kamari, beyond the ruins of the 1956 earthquake, is the church of Panagia tis Episkopis, which was built in 1115 and is the most important Byzantine monument on Santorini.
