Orthodox Heritage Kavala Private Tour

New Karvali, the city that is a historical continuation of the old Cappadocian Karvali (Gelveri) and the historic church of Agios Grigorios. We visit the we will learn about the history of the monastery and we will have the opportunity to venerate the holy relic of St. Gregory the Theologian, which from 390 AD was kept in the Carvali of Cappadocia and came to Greece in 1924 with the exchange of populations.

Νext stop is at the Holy Monastery of St. Apostle Silas, an important religious monument of the region. The monastery was built in 1926 after the liberation of Kavala for Apostle Sila who, together with Apostle Paul, arrived in Kavala, the first European territory to preach Christianity.

Next, we approach the banks of the Zygaktis, where we visit the baptistery of Lydia, the first woman to be baptized a Christian in Europe.

The monastery of Panagia Ikosifoinissa with its miraculous icon is one of the largest pilgrimages in Macedonia and is the oldest active monastery in Greece and Europe. We stope to marvel the miraculous icon and spend time learning about the ascetic life.
