Natural Private Tour Of Imbros Gorge
If hiking the Samaria Gorge feels too challenging, the Imbros Gorge offers a gentler alternative. This 8-kilometer trail is less strenuous but equally captivating. Imbros is the second most popular gorge in Crete, running parallel to the Samaria Gorge. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to hike, with the narrowest part just 1.60 meters wide. The first half-hour descends through wildflower meadows before narrowing dramatically. Legend has it that two brothers banished from Imbros in Turkey settled here, naming the gorge. Historically, it served as the main route between Chania and Chora Sfakion and was a critical evacuation path for British soldiers during WWII. The trek ends at Komitades, where you can relax at a local café. From there, we continue to Chora Sfakion for a swim and lunch by the Libyan Sea. The tour includes hotel pick-up and a guide who will share insights about the area's flora and history.
