It houses the miraculously preserved, incorrupt relics of Saint John, a humble 18th-century soldier captured by Ottoman forces. Despite his enslavement in Asia Minor, his profound humility, kindness, and unwavering faith won him deep respect. In 1924, during the population exchange, Greek refugees brought his sacred relics to Euboea, establishing a new sanctuary.
