Molaoi is located in the southeastern part of the Laconia region, 73 km from Sparta. It serves as the seat of the municipality of the same name and is primarily a center of agricultural activity. The municipality includes the following municipal districts: Molaoi, Pakia, Elia, Sykia, Metamorfosi, and Koupia.
Molaoi is built amphitheatrically on the slopes of Mount Kourkoulas. It is a beautiful village of traditional architecture that captivates visitors with its simplicity and charm. The main local products are olives, citrus fruits, and figs. Additionally, viticulture and the cultivation of vegetables are highly developed in the area.
In the area of Palaiopyrgos, traditional watermills are preserved along a ravine, offering stunning views. The same area also holds remnants of a medieval fortress of the Villehardouin family and an old Byzantine church.
