Tylisos has been inhabited since ancient times. Notably, the village retains the same name as the ancient Minoan city that thrived around 4,000 years ago! The village is of archaeological interest, as the area features the ruins of three Minoan villas dating to the Neopalatial period. Excavations have uncovered many significant findings, including pottery, altars, and more.
It is also worth visiting the Sklavokambos Valley. In addition to the natural beauty of the area, you can see the remains of another palace from the Late Minoan period.
