Kamares

On the slopes of Mount Psiloritis, at an altitude of 600 meters, lies the village of Kamares.
It is particularly famous for the cave of the same name, located at an altitude of 1,500 meters. The ascent to the cave starts from the village and takes approximately two hours. Visitors, besides enjoying the stunning views, will be amazed by the impressive cave, which served as a sacred site during the Minoan period. Inside the cave, the Kamares pottery was unearthed, dating back to the Middle Minoan period.
