Salamina or Koulouri is the seat of the Municipality of Salamina and the capital of the island. It is a modern town, with few traditional elements.
Exploring the city¢s charms, visitors are impressed by its many important landmarks. Neoclassical buildings and historic churches give the town its unique character. Busts of heroes, prominently displayed in the squares and streets of Salamina, recall the island¢s long history.
On the eastern coast of Salamina lies the island¢s port, Paloukia. It is a picturesque bay with a spacious promenade where the ferry boats dock.
A stroll along Karaiskaki Avenue will fill you with beautiful seaside views. It is a jewel of the city. This coastal road leads to Koulouri Beach. It is a pleasant route along a lush avenue lined with palm trees.
For swimming, the southern coasts are recommended. They are the cleanest and most popular on the island. There, the sea is more open and farther from the Elefsina Gulf. The beaches that attract visitors include: Kanakia, Saterli, Aianteio, Kaki Vigla, Selinia, Limniona, Gyala, Faneromeni, etc.
In Salamina you will find hotels and rental complexes. Along the beaches, tavernas, cafés, and bars operate for your evening entertainment.
