Kolpos geras
 |
The Gulf of Gera is located in the southeastern part of the island, in an area blessed with unique natural beauty.
It is a closed gulf that connects to the Aegean Sea through a narrow channel.
The area is covered with olive groves, while along the shores of the gulf, brackish marshes have formed (at Larso, Charamida, and Dipi), which, together with the Evergetoula River, create an important wetland.
The wider Gera area is distinguished by its changing landscapes, making it ideal for nature lovers and hiking routes.
A journey through Gera starts from Loutra, Kountouroudia, and Pyrgi.
At the site of Larso, on the northeastern coast, you will see the ruins of Pelasgian structures, known as the “Larissa Stones.”
At the top of the gulf is Dipi, a small fishing village with a tiny harbor.
Continuing the route, you will reach Pigadakia, a quiet shore where you can enjoy fresh fish from the gulf at the seaside tavernas.
