Platania is a village situated between the capes Agionisi and Chironisi, and between the ports of Igoumenitsa and Syvota. It serves as the seat of the Syvota municipality and stands out as a beautiful traditional settlement, combining modern urban planning with natural beauty.
It is believed that on the site of the present village there once existed the ancient settlements of Kalamini or Kalamonia, mentioned by Stephanos Byzantios, and Almini, referenced by Ptolemy.
