The village of Skamneli belongs to the famous Zagorochoria. It is built in the last ravine of Tymfi before Gyftokampos. The history of the village, according to findings, dates back to prehistoric times. At a short distance from the settlement, you can see the ruins of the Pelasgian walls.
Skamneli does not preserve the traditional architectural style of Zagori. Nevertheless, during your visit to the village, you will see the mansions of Theodosiou, Gennadiou, Fragkoulis, and Kyparissos. In the village square stands the Church of the Holy Apostles, founded in 1793. It is also worth visiting the Monasteries of Saint Paraskevi and Saint Nicholas.
