 Granitsa

Granitsa is located 82 km northwestwards of Karpenissi. It is the headquarters of Aperantios municipality.
The village is built in a magnificent landscape among the mountains of Agrafa and the lake of Kremaston. It is the birthplace of many great men. Stefanos Granitsas, a great man of lyrics, was born there.
The church of Saint Panteleimonas has a long history. It was initially built in 1730. At the beginnings of 1800, it was set to fire by Skondra Passas. All the priests in the church were slaughtered then. In 1815, the church was rebuilt, while in 1966 it was ruined by an earthquake. Today a new church is built in the place of the old one.
