About Vergina
Vergina is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece, located in the regional unit of Imathia, near Veria. It is globally known as the site of ancient Aigai, the first capital of the Kingdom of Macedon.
The site is famous for its royal tombs, including the tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. The Vergina Museum (an underground museum within the burial mound) presents these unique findings in an impressive setting.
Vergina is a top destination for visitors interested in ancient Macedonia, history, and archaeology.
