About Attica

The prefecture of Attica is located in central Greece and occupies the southeastern tip of Central Greece, from which it is separated by the mountains of Kithairona, Pastra and Parnitha. It borders the prefectures of Boeotia and Corinth and is washed by the Euboean, Saronic and, to a small extent, the Gulf of Corinth.

It is one of the most important regions of Greece. Here, the most important historical events of the Greek area have taken place, from ancient times to the present day, as Athens, the capital of the country, is located here. The city with the most brilliant history in the world, loved by the gods and worshipped by mortals, the place that gave birth to civilization and democracy.

Geographically, the region of Attica is bounded by the mountains of Parnitha, Hymettus and Penteli, which define the Attica basin. The area of Attica is estimated at 2,026 sq. km. and contains the majority of the country's population.

However, the wider region of Attica, in addition to its glorious history, also boasts unparalleled natural beauty. Lush landscapes and magnificent beaches, which, combined with the great archaeological monuments of Athens, make the Attica prefecture a magical place.
