The Vernou Vitsi Ski Center is located in the Kastoria regional unit, on the Vitsi peak of Mount Verno, at an altitude ranging from 1,610 to 1,880 meters. It sits just 22 kilometers away from the city of Kastoria, making it a highly accessible destination for both locals and visitors, while offering a breathtaking view of Lake Orestiada.
Although it is a smaller ski resort compared to others in the country, it stands out for its unique natural beauty, as its slopes are designed and carved through a dense and pristine beech forest. It features a total of 5 slopes of easy and intermediate difficulty (including a snowboard slope, a beginner's slope with a baby lift, as well as a 2.5-kilometer-long cross-country trail named "Arkoudi"), which are served by 3 lifts. The surrounding area also constitutes an important habitat for the protected brown bear, preserving the wild character of the nature around it.
The facilities include an organized and welcoming chalet, a ski school, equipment rental shops, and a snow bar serving local delicacies and warm drinks with a view of the snowy landscape. One of its most distinctive characteristics is that it is managed and operated by the Skiing and Mountaineering Club of Kastoria (S.X.O.K.), making it one of the very few ski centers in Greece that remains under the care of a local club since its establishment in 1985.
